In the coming weeks, Pinterest will be retiring the Like buttons that accompany each Pin.
The relevance of Pinterest's Like button has been a topic hotly debated since it's rollout. Some users have argued that the Like button is a redundant feature as it's assumed that if one were to Pin something to one of their boards, that they also Like it. Users can express their sentiments about a particular Pin with comments as well. Proponents of the Like button argue that it's a nice way to show their appreciation for a Pin when they don't have a board that would make sense to Pin it to. Others say that it helps organize Pins that they want to come back to without publicly saving it to one of their boards.
It appears that the arguments against the Like button have won out as Pinterest announced just last week that they will be doing away with it altogether in the coming weeks.
If you're worried that all of your Liked Pins will be vanishing forever, fear not! Pinterest says that they will be saving your Likes on a secret board (visible only to you) called "Your Pinterest Likes." You will also be able to move any of your Liked Pins on this new board to any other board at any time you wish.
If you have an opinion one way or another about the removal of the Like button, Pinterest has invited its users to provide feedback. So the question is, which side do you fall on... for or against Pinterest's Like button?
